Epic Seven Steam Account Transfer Guide
How to move an existing Epic Seven save onto Steam, link a STOVE account, and avoid the temporary-account trap at first login.

Epic Seven's Steam release creates a second front door into the same game, and the first login decides which door your save walks through. If you have years of heroes, gear and limited units on STOVE, do not press Play on Steam until you understand the conversion order. The client will happily create a fresh temporary account for you, and that account is not a container you can pour your old save into later.
A Steam first login without a STOVE link creates a temporary Steam account. If that account is lost or left unlinked, support cannot restore it. Link or convert before you start pulling.
The short answer
There are two safe routes, and both start on the STOVE website rather than in the Steam client.
| Your situation | What to do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| You have never launched Epic Seven on Steam | Convert your existing STOVE account to Steam login first, then launch | STOVE account settings |
| You already launched and a temporary Steam account exists | Register the temporary account, withdraw it, then convert your main account | STOVE website |
| You want a clean start on the Foundry server | Launch on Steam and keep the temporary account, then link it to STOVE | Steam client + STOVE |
| Your Transfer button is greyed out | Check the three-month cooldown; wait for it to expire | STOVE account settings |
The important detail is that a temporary Steam account cannot receive an existing save directly. It has to be withdrawn first. Once it is out of the way, the original account can be assigned to the Steam login type.
Why the order matters
Epic Seven treats a login method as an identity, not as a launcher setting. Your heroes, inventory, Skystones, Arena history and guild membership are attached to that identity. Steam is a new identity provider, so the game needs one account to be converted into the other rather than merged.
That is also why support cannot simply "move" a temporary account after the fact. The system has no merge operation for two live accounts. The official guidance is to withdraw the temporary one and convert the real one, which is why doing this in the right order saves a support ticket.
Do not buy or trade Epic Seven accounts to get around this. Account trading violates the terms, and a converted Steam account is tied to the original owner's login history.
Route 1: Convert before your first Steam login
This is the clean route, and it is the one to use if you have not installed or launched the Steam version yet.
- Open the official STOVE site in a browser and sign in with your existing Epic Seven credentials.
- Go to account settings and find the account conversion option.
- Choose Steam as the login type you want to convert to.
- Complete the Steam sign-in prompt and confirm the conversion.
- Install Epic Seven from Steam and launch it. The client should recognise the converted account instead of creating a new one.
If the conversion screen asks you to verify an email or a phone number, do it before launching the game. A half-finished conversion can leave you signed out of both clients.
Route 2: You already created a temporary Steam account
This happens to almost everyone who installs first and reads later. The temporary account is not fatal, but it has to be cleared properly.
- Launch the Steam version and finish the tutorial until the account is actually registered. Note the account name or email attached to it.
- Sign in to STOVE with the Steam login option, which brings up that temporary account.
- Use the account withdrawal option for the temporary account. Do not delete the Steam client or uninstall the game.
- Sign back in with your original STOVE email or social login.
- Convert the original account to the Steam login type.
- Launch the Steam client again and confirm that your old heroes and inventory are present.
The withdrawal step is the part people skip. Without it, the Steam login is still occupied by the temporary account, and the conversion option will not point where you expect.
What carries over and what does not
Cross-play means the same save is available on mobile and Steam, but a few things are platform-specific.
| Item | Carries to Steam | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Heroes, gear, inventory | Yes | Same account data |
| Skystones, Gold, Bookmarks | Yes | Server-wide currencies |
| Story and Abyss progress | Yes | Tied to the account |
| Arena and RTA rating | Yes | Season rules still apply |
| Foundry server characters | Only on Foundry | Matchmaking is isolated at first |
| Steam achievements | No transfer | Earned again on Steam |
| Local client settings | No | Resolution, language and audio reset |
Foundry is the new server opened with the Steam launch. Its Draft Arena, Guild War and World Arena matchmaking pools begin with Foundry players only, so an existing account that moves to Steam does not automatically join that pool. Server choice is separate from login choice.
The three-month cooldown
The Transfer button can be unavailable for a reason that has nothing to do with Steam. Epic Seven limits how often an account can change its login type. If you converted within the last three months, the option stays greyed out until the cooldown ends.
Check the date of your last conversion before you assume the Steam link is broken. Waiting is the only fix; repeated login attempts do not reset or shorten the timer.
Common first-day problems
The game opens with a new save. The Steam client is signed into a temporary account. Close it, clear the temporary account through STOVE, then convert the main account.
STOVE says the email is already in use. You are probably trying to convert into the login type that already belongs to another account. Sign out fully and start from the original account's settings page.
The conversion completes but the game still shows the tutorial. Finish the tutorial until the lobby appears, then restart the client. Some flags only refresh after a full lobby load.
Steam family sharing shows the wrong account. Epic Seven ties the save to the Epic Seven login, not to the Steam family member. Sign in with the correct STOVE identity before launching.
The client language is wrong. Steam language and in-game text language are separate settings. Change the in-game language from the lobby settings menu; the Steam client language only affects store pages and some launch prompts.
Should you move an old account to Steam at all?
Moving is the right call if you want to play on a larger screen, use a keyboard and mouse, or keep one account across devices. The save is the same, and the PC client removes phone storage limits.
Starting fresh on Foundry is the better call if your old account is far behind the current meta and you want the launch buffs, the free Luna at Rank 70 and the daily free Covenant summons. A fresh account also avoids the conversion cooldown and lets you reroll without touching your main save.
Whichever route you choose, decide before the first launch. The one thing you cannot do later is merge two accounts into one.
FAQ
Can I use my existing Epic Seven account on Steam?
Yes, but only after converting it to a Steam login through STOVE. Do not start the game on Steam first with the same email unless you intend to create a temporary account, because that temporary account cannot simply be merged into the old one later.
What happens if I launch the game on Steam before linking STOVE?
The game creates a temporary Steam account. You can register that temporary account separately, withdraw it, and then convert your original account, but the extra steps add risk. The safer order is to convert the original account from the STOVE website before the first Steam login.
How long does the transfer lock last?
A converted account cannot be transferred again for three months. If the transfer button is greyed out, check the date of the last conversion and wait for the lock to expire.
