Epic Seven Beginner Guide 2026
A thirty-day Epic Seven beginner plan for 2026: account setup, team building, Hunt progression, gear rules and the resources worth saving.

Epic Seven's early game is a sequence of gates, and most new accounts fail at the same three: they build too many heroes, they farm the wrong Hunt, and they treat Molagora like a renewable resource. The launch of the Steam client adds a fourth trap: starting on the wrong server or linking the wrong account.
This plan covers the first thirty days on any client, with notes for the Steam launch where they differ.
Days 1-3: establish the account
The first three days are about unlocking systems, not optimizing them.
- Finish the tutorial and claim the beginner rewards.
- Clear story chapters until Summon, Hero management, Hunts and Spirit Altar are open.
- Do the selective summon and keep one role-defining hero.
- Build a four-hero story team with a tank, healer, support and damage dealer.
- Join a guild as soon as the option appears; guild resources are free progress.
Do not spend Skystones on Covenant pulls in the first week. The free summons and story tickets provide enough volume, and Skystones are better spent on inventory space and limited banners.
If you start on Steam, choose Foundry for the launch buffs and the free Luna track. If you have an existing save, convert the account before the first Steam login. The Steam account transfer guide covers the order.
The first team
| Role | Job | Good starters |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Absorb hits, apply debuffs | Brieg, Ras, Krau |
| Healer | Keep the team alive, cleanse | Destina, Angelica, Montmorancy |
| Support | Buff, push CR, debuff | Tamarinne, Elson, Ras |
| Damage | Kill targets | Sigret, Vildred, Mercedes |
| Flex | Second damage or debuff | Furious, Muwi, Bellona |
The team does not need to be perfect. It needs to clear story, early Hunts and the first Abyss floors without manual retries.
Week 1: story and the first Hunt
Push the main story until energy costs become the limit, then switch to Hunts. The goal for week one is a stable Hunt 11 team, not a perfect Hunt 13 team.
Why Wyvern first:
- Speed sets fit almost every hero.
- Hit sets help debuffers.
- Crit sets help damage dealers.
- The team structure teaches debuff and tank basics.
The standard Wyvern core is Brieg, Furious, Muwi and Sigret. If you lack one piece, substitute by role: a tank that survives, a debuffer that lands consistently, and a damage dealer that kills before the shield phase.
| Day | Focus | Energy priority |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tutorial, story, selective summon | Story |
| 2 | Story, unlock Hunts | Story |
| 3 | First Hunt runs | Hunt 9-11 |
| 4 | Spirit Altar for awakening | Altar |
| 5 | Story push, guild join | Story |
| 6 | Hunt gear check | Hunt |
| 7 | Abyss first floors | Abyss |
By the end of week one you should have one 6-star hero, a functional healer, and a Hunt team that clears at least stage 11 most of the time.
Week 2: gear discipline
Gear is where new accounts separate. The temptation is to enhance every red piece; the correct move is to enhance only pieces with the right substats.
A useful early rule:
- Weapon, helmet, chest, boots: prioritize percentage stats and Speed.
- Necklace, ring: prioritize the main stat your hero needs (Crit Damage, Attack, HP, Defense).
- Boots: Speed main stat is almost always correct for supports and openers.
- Flat stats: avoid unless the piece has exceptional substats.
Enhance to +9 first. If the substats roll badly, stop. A +15 piece with flat rolls is worse than a +9 piece with speed and percentage stats.
Do not sell every blue gear. A blue piece with Speed and the right percentage substats can carry a new account through Wyvern 13. Check the substats before you sell.
Week 3: Abyss and Arena
Abyss teaches the mechanics that Hunts and PvP assume: debuff management, turn order, sustained damage and survival. The early floors are generous with Skystones and equipment, and the Abyss guide explains the team archetypes.
Arena is the other low-cost progression source. Even a losing defense earns conquest points. Spend them on the weekly shop items, especially charms and equipment.
At this point, start tracking speed. A team that moves in the wrong order loses fights it should win. The speed tuning guide explains the basics without requiring a calculator.
Week 4: consolidate
The fourth week is about turning a functional account into a repeatable one.
| Goal | Measure |
|---|---|
| Stable Hunt 13 team | 80%+ clear rate, no manual targeting |
| Second Hunt team | Golem, Banshee or Azimanak at stage 11+ |
| Abyss progress | First 20 floors cleared |
| Arena | Weekly conquest points claimed |
| Gear | One full +15 set on the main damage dealer |
| Heroes | Two 6-star heroes, not ten 5-star projects |
Do not start a third Hunt team before the first one is stable. Gear quality compounds faster than roster breadth.
Resource rules
| Resource | Rule |
|---|---|
| Skystones | Inventory space first, limited banners second |
| Bookmarks | Save for limited or top-tier banners; skip random pulls |
| Gold | Enhance speed boots and main damage gear; do not +15 low-level gear |
| Molagora | One PvE damage dealer and one healer; nothing else early |
| Powder | Key artifacts for the main team |
| Energy | Hunt events, story push, event dungeon |
| Friendship points | Save for weekly bookmarks and penguins |
The launch buffs make Gold and EXP less scarce, but Molagora and gear charms remain the real budget. Treat every Molagora as a week of progress.
Common beginner mistakes
Building a PvP team first. PvP without speed gear is a donation. Build PvE first.
Ignoring effect resistance on healers. A healer that gets stunned does nothing. HP and Effect Resistance are not wasted stats.
Farming a stage you cannot clear. A 70% clear rate at stage 11 beats a 30% clear rate at stage 13.
Spreading awakenings. Awaken the main team, not every 5-star you pull.
Selling gear by colour. Substats decide value, not the border.
Skipping the event dungeon. Catalysts gate skill enhancement, and events are the cheapest source.
When the account is no longer "beginner"
You can stop following this plan when you have a stable Hunt 13 team, a full +15 set on your main damage dealer, and enough speed gear to tune a PvP opener. At that point, move to the 2026 tier list and the PvP tier list.
FAQ
How long does it take to reach Wyvern 13?
A focused account can reach a stable Wyvern 13 team in two to four weeks. The limit is usually gear quality and debuffer stats, not account level.
What should I buy with the early resources?
Energy and gear charm value come first. Avoid chasing every banner; the free launch summons already provide a wide roster.
What is the most common beginner mistake?
Spreading gear across too many heroes. One complete team with +15 key pieces progresses faster than ten half-built heroes.
