Epic Seven Beginner Tier List
The best Epic Seven heroes for a new account: selective summon targets, budget healers, Wyvern starters and heroes not worth early investment.

A beginner tier list is not a smaller version of the endgame list. New accounts have different problems: no speed gear, no immunity sets, no spare Molagora, and a story mode that punishes glass cannons. The best early hero is the one that works with the gear you can actually farm this week.
This list ranks heroes by how much they solve those early problems. It assumes a fresh account, a limited selective summon pool, and no access to limited or Moonlight units.
The short version
| Priority | Hero | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sigret | Turns Wyvern into a farm; the best single-target starter |
| 2 | Destina | Healing and cleanse for story, Abyss and Hunts |
| 3 | Tamarinne | Support that scales into every mode |
| 4 | Vildred | Fast story and event farming |
| 5 | Brieg | Front-row Wyvern tank who remains useful |
| 6 | Furious | Debuffer who enables Wyvern 13 |
| 7 | Muwi | Budget Wyvern support |
| 8 | Angelica | Barrier and immunity healer |
| 9 | Bellona | AoE defense break for later Hunts |
| 10 | Commander Lorina | Long-fight damage for Abyss |
The order is about account progress, not raw power. Sigret first because Wyvern gear unlocks everything else. Destina and Tamarinne next because a dead team deals no damage.
S tier: the account-changers
Sigret
Sigret is the benchmark Wyvern damage dealer. Her kit applies debuffs, scales with the target's condition, and fits the standard Brieg/Furious/Muwi core. A new account with Sigret can build toward Wyvern 13 immediately; an account without her can still do it, but the gear bar is higher.
Build notes: Attack and Crit Damage, with enough Speed to move after the debuffers. She does not need to be the fastest hero on the team.
Destina
Destina is the comfort pick. Strong healing, cleanse and a revive-adjacent kit make her the answer to story bosses that apply debuffs and burst damage. She remains useful in Abyss and several Hunts.
Build notes: HP and Speed. Effect Resistance helps, but do not sacrifice survivability for it.
Tamarinne
Tamarinne is the best long-term support in the standard pool. Her dual form provides healing, cleansing, CR push and an attack buff, which is why she appears in PvE and PvP teams years after release.
Build notes: Speed, HP and Effect Resistance. She wants to take turns often, not hit hard.
A tier: strong, replaceable
| Hero | Role | Why they are here |
|---|---|---|
| Vildred | Earth AoE DPS | Fast farming and a strong early story carry |
| Brieg | Ice Knight | The standard Wyvern front tank |
| Furious | Ice Ranger | Defense break and debuff consistency |
| Muwi | Ice Thief | Budget Wyvern pressure |
| Angelica | Ice Soul Weaver | Barrier and immunity for new accounts |
| Bellona | Earth Ranger | AoE defense break for Banshee and Azimanak |
| Commander Lorina | Dark Warrior | Single-target damage that scales into Abyss |
| Angelic Montmorancy | Ice Soul Weaver | Cleanse and immunity on a budget |
| Krau | Ice Knight | Defensive tank with a team-saving skill |
These heroes are not consolation prizes. Brieg, Furious and Muwi are the reason the standard Wyvern team works, and none of them is a 5-star.
Keep Furious and Muwi even if you pull a flashier damage dealer. The Wyvern team needs debuffers more than it needs a second nuker.
B tier: usable with a plan
| Hero | Use | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Ras | Early story tank | Falls off without heavy investment |
| Mercedes | Early AoE damage | Replaced by almost any premium damage dealer |
| Alexa | Budget Wyvern damage | Needs debuff support to shine |
| Mistychain | Budget Wyvern healer/debuffer | Fragile without gear |
| Lena | Low-level farmer | Falls off in later stages |
| Elson | Early attack buff | Low survivability |
| Kluri | Budget utility | Needs specialty change to matter |
| Montmorancy | Budget cleanse | Needs specialty change for full value |
B-tier heroes are fine to use and bad to over-invest in. Take them to a functional level, then move the gear to a hero with a longer shelf life.
What not to build early
Limited heroes you cannot awaken. A limited 5-star at level 50 with no runes is worse than a fully built 3-star.
Five damage dealers. Story teams need a healer and a support. Four damage dealers stall on the first boss with a debuff.
PvP specialists before you have PvE gear. RTA heroes need speed and effect resistance that a new account cannot farm yet.
Every hero you pull. Molagora is the scarcest resource in the game. Spend it on one damage dealer and one healer first.
Selective summon priorities
The selective summon is the one place a new player has real control. Pick in this order:
- Sigret, if she is available.
- Destina, if you have no healer.
- Tamarinne, if you want the best long-term support.
- Vildred, if you want the fastest story clear.
- Angelica, if you want a budget healer with immunity.
Do not reroll for a Moonlight hero from the selective summon; the pool does not include them. Do not keep a batch just because it has three 5-stars if none of them fills a role.
A functional first team
| Slot | First choice | Budget option |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Brieg | Ras, any Knight |
| Healer | Destina | Angelica, Montmorancy |
| Support | Tamarinne | Elson, Ras |
| Damage | Sigret | Alexa, Mercedes |
| Flex | Furious or Muwi | Any debuffer |
This team clears story, most early Hunts and the first Abyss floors. It is not a final team; it is a platform that lets you farm the gear for the final team.
When to stop using this list
Graduate from the beginner list when you have:
- One stable Hunt 11+ team.
- A healer with a full +15 gear set.
- At least one hero at 6-star awakening.
- Access to Wyvern 13 or a comparable gear source.
- Enough speed gear to tune a team.
At that point, the main tier list and the PvP tier list become more relevant than starter value.
FAQ
Which hero should a new player pick first?
Sigret is the default because she turns Wyvern 13 into a realistic goal. Destina and Tamarinne are the strongest support alternatives if the account lacks healing or cleansing.
Are five-star heroes required?
No. Furious, Muwi, Angelic Montmorancy and Commander Lorina are accessible picks that cover debuffing, healing and damage. A coherent four-hero team beats a scattered box of five-stars.
Should I build a hero just because it is S-tier?
Only if the hero fits a team you can finish. An S-tier damage dealer with no debuffers or tank is worse than a B-tier hero in a complete lineup.
